Signature: "Horton Foote", 5x3 card. Horton Foote (1916-2009) wrote many screenplays for
the TV playhouses, including the original version of The Trip to Bountiful. He received
Emmy nominations for both of his TV adaptations of Faulkner's The Old Man, winning
the award in 1997. Foote won screenwriters' Oscars for To Kill a Mockingbird (1962) and
Tender Mercies (1983), both of which featured his favorite actor, Robert Duvall. Foote was
the voice of Jefferson Davis in Ken Burns' TV series The Civil War, which also featured
narrative by his third cousin, historian Shelby Foote. Horton Foote won a Pulitzer Prize for
Drama for The Young Man from Atlanta (1995) and received the National Medal of Arts
in 2000. His trilogy of plays The Orphans Home Cycle, performed in rotation off Broadway,
won him a posthumous Drama Desk Award. Fine condition.
