Signature: "Albert Payson Terhune", 5x3 card, affixed to an
8½x11 sheet, bearing a clipped magazine article about him and a typed caption (3
surfaces). Journalist, author and dog breeder Albert Payson Terhune
(1872-1942) ran a prestigious kennel and wrote many books. Beginning with
Lad: a Dog (1919; 1962 film), his books were mostly fiction and
nonfiction books about dogs. (Lad figured prominently in several of them.)
Ten of his short pieces were re-published in 1994 as Great Dog Stories.
From the personal collection of Ralph Errington Ward (1926-2009). Ward, a
fighter pilot and squadron commander in the China-Burma-India Theater of World
War II, went on to become President and CEO of Cheseborough-Ponds, Inc.,
transforming the cosmetics firm into a major home product conglomerate. Adhesive
on verso (affixing card to the page). Creased. Lightly worn. Lightly toned at
edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
