Aldo Ray (1926-1991), born Aldo DaRe, was a leading man of Hollywood and some European films, specializing in playing brawny but lovable tough guys. After debuting on screen in 1951, Ray went on to portray American rednecks and military men in over 60 films over his 39-year career. His credits include The Naked and the Dead (1958), What Did You Do in the War, Daddy? (1966), Won Ton Ton, The Dog Who Saved Hollywood (1976), and The Secret of NIMH (1982, voice). Ray also appeared in several made-for-TV movies, and he made guest appearances on several TV series, including Westinghouse Desilu Playhouse (1958), Naked City (1962), Daniel Boone (1965), Bonanza (1964, 1972), CHiPS (1979) and Falcoln Crest (1985).
