ALEX & THE GYPSY MOVIE CAST: GENEVIEVE BUJOLD and JACK LEMMON
The costars signs their names on this black and white publicity still from their 1976 film Alex & The Gypsy
Inscribed Printed Photograph signed in Ink: "August 85/To Dave/Genevieve Bujold" in blue ink and "Jack Lemmon" in black ink. B/w, 8x10. Still from 1976 film Alex & The Gypsy. With her warm, intelligent performances and piercing almond eyes, the French-Canadian actress GENEVIEVE BUJOLD (b. 1942) cut a striking figure throughout the international film community during the 1960s and beyond. She starred as Anne Boleyn in 1969's Anne of the Thousand Days, a performance that earned her an Academy Award nomination and made her a star. A few of her other films include Earthquake(1974), Swashbuckler (1976), Coma (1978), Tightrope (1984), and Dead Ringers (1988). A private school-educated everyman who could play outrageous comedy and wrenching tragedy, JACK LEMMON (1925-2001) burst onto the movie scene as a 1950s Columbia contract player and remained a beloved star until his death. Whether through humor or pathos, he excelled at illuminating the struggles of average men against a callous world; as director Billy Wilder once noted, "There was a little bit of genius in everything he did." Lemmon won the 1956 Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for his role as Ensign Pulver inMister Roberts (1955). He also won the 1974 Academy Award for Best Actor for portraying garment manufacturer Harry Stoner in Save the Tiger (1973). Lemmon received Best Actor Oscar nominations for Some Like It Hot (1959), The Apartment (1960), Days of Wine and Roses (1962), The China Syndrome (1979), Tribute (1980), and Missing (1982).
