Nelson, US Air Force Special Weapons Group, Washington, D.C.In full: "In case you missed the issue, I herewith enclose a reprint of my article entitled "Our Antiquated Defense Policy" which appears in the April issue of The American Mercury. I thought you might enjoy reading it. Cordially." A Russian air ace in World War I, de Seversky (1894-1974) came to the United States in 1918 and founded the Seversky Aircraft Corp. (forerunner of Republic Aircraft), manufacturing pursuit planes, notably the P-47. Member of the National Aviation Hall of Fame, Seversky invented various airplane devices including abombsight. His book advocating reliance on strategic bombing to win World War II was turned into an influential Disney documentary film in 1943, with Severesky in a starring role. Lightly toned and spotted in blank left margin. Paperclip residue in upper left corner. Otherwise, fine condition.
