ALEXANDER ORFALY
The actor sends a full list of Broadway credits to John Willis, Editor of Theatre World
Autograph letter signed: "Alexander Orfaly", in black ink, 1 page (front and verso), 6¼x8¾. In part: "Dear Mr. Willis, I am enclosing my photograph which you've requested for your files [items not included]. May I add for my biography my full list of Broadway credits, as you've printed it leaving various ones out at different times". Actor Alexander Orfaly (1935-1979) is best known for his stage work, appearing in 11 Broadway plays over 14 years. His Broadway debut was in the original production of Hello, Dolly! (1964), and was followed three years later by How Now, Dow Jones (1967). Orfaly's last performance on Broadway was in 1978's King of Hearts. He has also appeared in two films, but both roles were very minor. John A. Willis (1916-2010), active in Theatre World from the beginning, became its chief editor in 1965, holding that position until 2008. Willis is regarded as one of the foremost theatre and film historians of the 20th century. While producing (and presenting) the annual Theatre World Awards, Willis also served on the nominating committee for the Tony Awards. Theatre World, which received its own Tony for Excellence in Theatre in 2001, continues under chief editor Ben Hodges. Light surface creases. Lightly toned. Fine condition.
