Autograph Letter signed: "Alfred Burke", 1 page, 8¼x11¾. No place, 1984 July 12. Written to "Dear Mr. Axelrod", in full: "Thank you for your letter. I enclose photographs - details on the back. It seems to me it might be a little more interesting to show a page of an actor's notes while preparing a performance, rather than a mere recital of career details. I hope you agree. I wish you success in your enterprise. Best wishes" English actor Alfred Burke (1918-2011) appeared in many productions of the Royal Shakespeare Company, but was best known for his many television roles. Foremost among these was his long-running starring role as down-at-the-heels private detective Frank Marker in Public Eye (1965-1975). Other recurring TV roles, beginning in the mid-1950s, included Treasure Island (as Long John Silver), The Borgias and Enemy at the Door (as German Oberst Richter). His last feature film role was that of Professor Armando Dippet in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002). Slightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
