Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Friends of Long Standing-/The Best of Wishes/Alfred Drake" in blue ink and "1948" in black ink. B/w sepia-toned, 4¾x6¾ overall, image 4½x6½ (one surface). Alfred Drake (1914-1992, born Alfred Capurro in the Bronx, New York) was an American stage, TV and movie actor. Drake had 34 Broadway appearances between 1935 and 1975. He created the role of Curly in the original Broadway production of Oklahoma! (1943-1948) and created the role of Hajj in the original Broadway production of Kismet (1953-1955), a role that earned him a Tony Award. He also had 18 roles on TV and movies and almost as many appearance as himself on numerous TV variety, talk and awards shows. Lightly toned and bowed. Large piece has been torn out of upper right corner and has been repaired with tape on verso. Adhesive remnants on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
