Alfred Lord Tennyson sends a third person autograph letter asking for
carpet samples.
Third-person Autograph Letter Signed: "Mr. Alfred Tennyson",
1p, 4¼x7. No place, 1867 July 8. On embossed Farringford letterhead;
to Messrs, Coleman, & Robinson. In full: "Mr. Alfred Tennyson will be
obliged to Messrs, Coleman & Robinson to send her a few patterns of read
& green moss pattern Kiddermaster bedroom carpets by Barnes". In 1850,
English poet Alfred Lord Tennyson (1809-1892) wrote the elegy, In
Memoriam, which became a favorite of Queen Victoria, who appointed
Tennyson as Poet Laureate the same year. Tennyson works also include
historical dramas, such as Queen Mary (1875), Harold (1876) and
Becket (1884), the lyric poems, Morte d'Arthur (1842) and
Charge of the Light Brigade (1855), and his epic, The Idylls of the
King. Farringford was Tennyson's home. Lightly creased and soiled.
