Sheet Music inscribed and signed: "For Norm -/Alice Faye" on
front cover, 6p, 9x12. Sheet music for the song, "Hold My Hand", lyrics
by Jack Yellen and Irving Caesar, music by Ray Henderson. The song was
featured in the 1934 film, George White's Scandals, which starred Faye as
Mona Vale (in her first film) and Rudy Vallee, Jimmy Durante, Adrienne Ames
and George White. Faye, who was a vocalist with Rudy Vallee's band, was also
seen on the big screen in three other films, Now I'll Tell, She
Learned About Sailors and 365 Nights in Hollywood, in 1934. Her next
appearance (in 1935) was in George White's 1935 Scandals (as Honey
Walters). Alice Faye (1915-1998) was a chorus girl who rose to
movie stardom in such films as In Old Chicago (1938), Rose
of Washington Square (1939) and Tin Pan Alley (1940). She also
co-starred with husband Phil Harris in a popular radio comedy series.
Semi-retired thereafter, Faye remained popular on TV and in nightclub
appearances. Lightly creased. One-inch tear at upper blank margin at
mid-vertical fold, ½-inch tear at lower blank margin at that fold. ¼-inch tears
at upper margins of front cover and inside back cover. Chipped at lower blank
margin of back cover, lower right corner of front cover torn away, lower right
corner of back cover chipped away. Lightly soiled. Name written (unknown hand)
in pencil on front cover. Otherwise, fine condition.
