ALICE FAYE
A book of sheet music for It's Swell of You, signed by Faye in black ink
Sheet Music signed: "Alice Faye" on front cover, 4p, 9x12¼. Titled, "It's Swell of You", words and music by Mack Gordon and Harry Revel. The song was featured in the 1937 film, Wake Up and Live, which starred Faye (as Alice Huntley), Walter Winchell and Ben Bernie and featured Jack Haley. Middle page with words and lyrics to the song is missing. Excerpts from three other songs, "There's A Lull In My Life", "Never In A Million Years" and "I Love You Much Too Much, Muchacha" on inside front cover; excerpts from three other, unrelated songs imprinted on back cover. In 1937, Faye was also seen on the big screen in five other feature films: In Old Chicago, On the Avenue, You Can't Have Everything and You're a Sweetheart. Alice Faye (1915-1998) was a chorus girl who rose to movie stardom in such films as In Old Chicago (1938), Rose of Washington Square (1939) and Tin Pan Alley (1940). She also co-starred with husband Phil Harris in a popular radio comedy series. Semi-retired thereafter, Faye remained popular on TV and in nightclub appearances. Lightly creased. Worn at upper right edge and lower left corner of front cover. Nicked at blank lower margin at mid-vertical fold. Lightly soiled at light areas on covers and inside pages. Otherwise, fine condition.
