3½x6, bound with two staples. With a 2x3 ¾ obituary on Rice affixed inside rear

(1870-1942), born Alice Caldwell Hegan, served as an aide at a mission
Sunday school in a Louisville, Kentucky slum called the Cabbage Patch. Her
best-known and best-selling novel, Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch
(1901), is based in this slum. Her stories were adapted to film and TV
nine times between 1914 and 1954, with Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch
being adapted a total of four times, including a 1934 film with W. C. Fields, as
well as a Broadway play (1904-1905). Rice was married to poet Cale Young
Rice. American author, playwright and poet CALE YOUNG RICE (1872-1943)
was married to best-selling author Alice Hegan Rice. His works include
numerous plays - one of which, A Night in Avignon, was produced on
Broadway in 1919 - as well as two novels, Youth's Way and Early
Reaping, and the opera Yolanda of Cyprus. Lightly toned, stained,
foxed, soiled and creased. Light tears at top edge. Paper loss on last page
(does not touch signature. Adhesive residue and paper loss on covers with
show-through (do not touch signatures). Otherwise in fine condition.
