Pamphlet from a radio reading by Guy Bates Post of T. Howard Wilson's Rhapsodies, signed by actor Alice Lake
Pamphlet signed "Alice Lake". Black ink notations in unknown hand underneath signature. 6 pages including front cover, 5½x8½. Titled on cover: "Hand in Hand/AS BROADCAST BY THE DISTINGUISHED STAGE STAR/GUY BATES POST/From the Book/RHAPSODIES/By T. Howard Wilson". Published by House-Warven, Publishers, of Hollywood California. Contains two poems - The Tryst and Calyx of a Purple Star - and an essay. American movie actress Lake (1895-1967) got her start in Max Sennett comedies during the 1910s, often co-starring opposite Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle. A frequent and hard-working leading lady during the 1920s, her popularity faded as the 1930s began, and she was relegated to playing small roles in B-movies. In all, she appeared in almost 100 films between 1912 and 1935. Lightly toned, foxed, stained and creased. Notations touch signature. Tackhead-sized paper loss near top right corner of front cover. Spine is worn and separating at bottom edge. Light tears along right and bottom edges. Otherwise in fine condition.
