Photograph inscribed and signed: "Best Wishes/to the/A.M.H.D./Allan Arbus". B/w, 8x9¾. The A.H.M.D. was the Las Vegas-based American Museum of Historical Documents, now the Gallery of History. After making his film debut in Hey, Let's Twist (1961), character actor Allan Arbus (1918-2013) appeared in a number of films, including Cinderella Liberty (1973), Damien: Omen II (1978), The Electric Horseman (1979), The Last Married Couple in America (1980) and Lieberman in Love (1995). Best known to TV audiences for his recurring character, Dr. Sidney Freedman, an Army psychiatrist featured in several episodes of the hit TV sitcom, M*A*S*H (making periodic appearances in at least one episode each season from 1973-1978), Arbus has also appeared in made-for-TV movies, been a regular on two TV series (Working Stiff, 1979; The Four Seasons, 1984) and appeared as a guest star on numerous TV shows, from Here Come the Brides (1969) to Curb Your Enthusiasm (2000). In the 1950s, Arbus had been a New York City-based professional photographer, taking photographs for local and national advertising campaigns. Minor surface creases (not evident head on). Fine condition.
