Photograph Signed: "Allan Lane" in black ink. 4x6. B/w. Allan Lane (1909-1973) starred in Republic oaters of the 1940s and 1950s, and was the voice of the TV horse Mister Ed, beginning in 1961. A regular western star, Lane appeared in over 125 films between 1929 and 1966. Notables include Stagecoach to Denver(1946), King of the Royal Mounted (1940), The Tiger Woman (1944) and Homesteaders of Paradise Valley (1947). ROY BARCROFT (1902-1969) was an American character actor, best known for his role in B-Westerns made by Republic Pictures. He appeared in almost 150 films with Republic alone, totaling almost 400 credits by the end of his career. More often than note, Barcroft was cast as the villain, best exemplified in films like Manhunt of Mystery Island (1945), Along the Navajo Trail (1954), and Sheriff of Wichita (1949). After he contract with Republic ended, Barcroft was cast in more likeable roles, including Col. Jim Logan in the Spin and Marty serials and films. Trimmed corners. Tape residue on verso. Slightly soiled. Otherwise, fine condition.
