The sociologist and president of Rotary International pencils his name on this album leaf
Signature: “Allen D. Albert/ 6-3-'35”, in pencil, 4½x3. Allen Diehl Albert (1874-1964) was an American sociologist who also served as president of Rotary International. Following undergraduate studies at George Washington University, Albert attended Columbia Law School. He graduated and entered the newspaper business, working as an editor for several publications before joining the faculty of the University of Minnesota. Albert taught courses in English and political economy. From 1915 to 1916, he served as the president of Rotary International. In addition to his presidential leadership role, Albert served as a director and as a chairman and Rotary committee member. From 1933 to 1934, he was an assistant to the President of the Century of Progress Exposition and helped develop the general program of the World's Fair. Lightly toned. Staining near lower corners. Left edge irregular from being neatly torn from album. Identifying pencil notes below signature (unknown hand). Otherwise, fine condition.
