The screen's premier "comic gangster", stage and screen actor Allen Jenkins (1900-1974), born Alfred McGonegal, was a member in good standing of Hollywood's "Irish Mafia", which included actors James Cagney, Pat O'Brien, Matt McHugh and Jimmy Gleason. Jenkins, who made his film debut in 1931 in The Girl Habit, appeared in a long list of feature films through the 1970s, including I Am a Fugitive From a Chain Gang (1932), 42nd Street (1933), Dead End (1937), Destry Rides Again (1939), Ball of Fire (1941), Tortilla Flat (1942), Stage Door Canteen (1943), Pillow Talk (1959), It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963), Robin and the Seven Hoods (1964), I'd Rather Be Rich (1964), Doctor, You've Got To Be Kidding (1967) and The Front Page (1974, his last film). Jenkins also appeared in a number of TV shows and series, from Playhouse 90 in 1957 to several episodes of Bewitched (1971-1972). Saul Goodman (1919-2003), a New York business man by day, pursued his love of film and theatre in the evening, making friends with many celebrities. While other autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars with snazzy photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain pen. Light surface marks and dings. Paperclip impression and small area of surface rubbing at upper right edge. Otherwise, fine condition.
