On Stage program for the Eastside Playhouse production of "Alpha Beta", signed on inside cover. JOHN BERRY (1917-1999) was an American film director. During the Great Depression Berry sought to support himself by working as a comedian and actor. His first big break came when he was hired by the Mercury Theatre for a presentation of "Julius Caesar" that was produced by John Houseman and directed by Orson Welles. In 1943, Houseman hired Berry to direct the film Miss Susie Slagle's starring Veronica Lake and Lillian Gish. Berry stayed in Hollywood and directed other features, most notably From This Day Forward starring Joan Fontaine, Cross My Heart with Betty Hutton, the musical Casbah with Tony Martin and Yvonne De Carlo, and He Ran All the Way (1951) starring John Garfield and Shelley Winters. After being blacklisted and moving to Paris, Berry continued to work on films without receiving any credit. The blacklist was broken in 1960 and he began directing in the United States again. E.A. WHITEHEAD is a screen and play writer, known for his work on Thirty Minute Theater (1972), Play for Today (1976), and the play "Alpha Beta" (1976). LAURENCE LUCKINBILL (b. 1940) is an American actor of stage and film. He has acted in multiple Broadway productions, including A Man For All Seasons (1961), Poor Murderer (1976), and Cabaret (1998). He played the title character in Poor Murderer, but also starred in other Broadway productions. In film, he is most notable for playing Spock's half-brother in the movie Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. KATHRYN WALKER (b. 1943) started her theater career in The Good Doctor (1973-1974). She won an Emmy as Abigail Adams in the PBS mini-series The Adams Chronicles (1976). Her film appearances include Blade (1973) and Neighbors (as John Belushi's wife, 1981). In real life she was married to James Taylor for 10 years. Walker has directed many classic Greek dramas for the New York's 92nd Street Y. Toned. Corners rounded and creased.
