Endorsement of Application for Membership in the Masquers, signed by Ethier on behalf of
Charles Chic Sale. Alphonz Ethier (1875-1943, alt. sp: Alphonse) was active in late silent
and early talking films (1918-1938). A was an early favorite of director Frank Capra, who
cast him in The Donovan Affair (1929). He played the Marshal in Raoul Walsh's The Big
Trail (1930). Vaudeville comedian and author Charles "Chic" Sale appeared in early talking
films, usually cast as an old man, although he died at age 51 in 1936. Vertical fold creases.
Staple holes top margin at left and center right. Lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
