ALVIN A. UNDEHRILL
The Secretary and Treasurer to the American Balloon Corps Veterans
replies to a letter asking for a membership roster
Typed letter signed: "Alvin A. Underhill", in blue ink, 1
page, 8½x11. September 16, 1979. New Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. In full:
"Your letter of July 9, 1979, address to Edwin F. Hermanns, Publisher of
our Association's paper, Haul Down & Ease Off, has been referred to me for
reply. You request a copy of the Association's membership roster. Some members
in the past have complained, upon receiving various types of inquiries from
unknown persons, when they learned that their names and addresses were given out
by their Association. Since then it has been the policy not to give or sell a
membership roster. Of course the use of members names and addresses that appear
in our publication cannot be controlled. I will answer what would probably be
your next question as to how to obtain copies of our publication, Haul Down
& Ease Off. The paper is not for sale to the public as it carries no
advertising and is published for the sole enjoyment of its members. Our
Association is composed of WWI veterams who while in the Armed Service were in
some way connect with Observation balloons. In recent years some persons not
meeting these requirement but who are interested in the History of WWI have been
accepted as Associate members. Membership is $3.00 a year and entitles a person
to receive our publication which is issued 3 times a year. I hope this
information answers all of your questions. Very truly yours". Alvin A.

organization through 1972 to 1982, and passed away in 1986. Surface creases.
