Signature: “Alvin M. Bentley” in blue ink on verso of a lined 5x3 index card. Typed: “Alvin M. Bentley,/Member of Congress, Eight Michigan District,/1955-1957.” Alvin M. Bentley (1918-1969) was a United States Congressman representing Michigan's 8th District from 1953-1961, perhaps most famous for his injury sustained during the 1954 U.S. Capitol shooting carried out by Puerto Rican nationalists. Later in life, he founded the Alvin M. Bentley Foundation to fund education and charity projects in Michigan. Slight wear on top edge. Otherwise, fine condition.
