Autograph Letter signed: "Amelia Bingham", 1 page, 8½x11. Office of
Amelia Bingham, 1129 Broadway, New York, 1900 January 14. On her business
letterhead to Nfanand Wine Co., in full: "Gentlemen. In organizing my
Stock Co. for the Bijou Theatre, I have naturally undergone a great mental
strain. Vin Nfunand has been my sole tonic. I cannot recommend it too strongly
to all brain workers. Yours Faithfully". American stage actress Amelia
Bingham (1869-1927) debuted in New York City in 1893. She appeared on stage
in several successful shows in the 1890's including The Power of Gold,
The Shaughran, The Colleen Bawn, and The Village
Postmaster, By 1897 she was a leading lady on stage and
starred in The White Heather. In the 1901 she became the first
female manager, starting the Amelia Bingham Company. She produced and
oversaw several shows as a manager with one of her biggest hits The
Climbers premiering in 1901 and running for 163 shows. Bingham continued
to manage and perform in shows until her death. Multiple folds. Heavily toned.
Surface creases. Corners lightly worn and creased. Small tears on top, right,
and bottom margin. Otherwise, fine condition.
