Newspaper Photograph Signed: "Anders Hedberg", in blue ink, 4x5 black and white photograph affixed to a slightly larger card (2 surfaces). Anders Hedberg (b.1951) is a Swedish hockey player who was one of the first European players to join the NHL. Hedberg began his professional hockey career playing for the Winnipeg Jets of the WHA league in 1974. On the Jets, Hedberg won two Avco World Trophies (1976 and 1978). Hedberg was one of the best stars for the Jets, scoring 236 goals and earning 222 assists in 286 games. After four seasons, Hedberg left the WHA and joined the New York Rangers, a trade that costs $2.4 million, one of the most expensive trades at the time. Hedberg continued the rest of his career with the Rangers, playing seven seasons before he retired in 1985. He is the recipient of the 1974-75 WHA Lou Kaplan Trophy and the 1984-85 NHL Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. He also played in the WHA All-star games from 1974-78. In 2012, he was inducted into the Swedish Hall of fame. In the NHL, Hedberg played 465 games, scoring 172 goals and aiding in 225 assists. Ink note (unknown hand) on verso. Image toned.
