St. Tropez, 1932 June 16. On letterhead of Le Maquis to Mr. Ladislas
Szecsi. In French, partially translated. The artist has received his
correspondent's letter upon his arrival in the province on the 8th of June after
a journey across the heartland of France. He responds to Szeci's request for
several portraits: "I have looked for the drawings I made of myself in the
past. I haven't found them. I will draw some again and send them to
you." Hand-addressed by de Segonzac on verso to: "Monsieur
Ladislas Szesci, 25 rue des Petits Hotels 25 Paris 10". French painter and
graphic artist ANDRÉ de SEGONZAC (1884-1974) was a member of section
d'or, which stressed geometric aspects in cubism. Beginning in 1920, his
watercolors, lithographs and etchings of landscapes, dancers and still lifes
became more naturalistic. LADISLAS SZECSI (1904-1988) was a Parisian art
dealer and collector who was later known as Ladislas Segy. He founded the Segy
Gallery in New York and wrote a number of books on art. Slightly creased.
