ANGELA LANSBURY
Angela Lansbury regretfully declines an invitation to participate in the John Player Lectures.
Autograph Letter Signed: "Angela Lansbury". 1½p, front and verso, 5½x7. Conna, Co[ounty]. Cork (Ireland), 1972 March 1. To Mr. Fischer, in full: "Sorry you have had such difficulty reaching me - I did receive your letters of December 21st and February 21st - but not the one of February 8th! I quite understand the time ahead needed to set up the film showings and as I have absolutely no way of knowing whether I could be in London on June 11th I will regretfully have to decline your invitation to participate in the John Player Lectures. Yours Sincerely". Angela Lansbury (born 1925), won the 1966 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical, her first, for her portrayal of the title character in Mame. The play opened on May 24, 1966 at the Winter Garden Theatre and ran for 1508 performances. She later won Tony Awards for Dear World (1969), Gypsy (1975) and Sweeney Todd (1979). Murder, She Wrote (1984-1996), which starred Lansbury as a best-selling novelist-turned-amateur sleuth, debuted Sept. 30, 1984 and was the highest-rated drama series on TV for a record nine straight seasons (1985-1994). She reprised her role as Jessica Fletcher in a number of subsequent made-for-TV movies. File holes at right edge. Otherwise, fine condition.
