ANITA BAKER
Signed black and white publicity photograph from Associated Booking Corporation of Baker in a black dress and gold buckled belt.
Photograph signed: "Anita Baker". B/w, 8x10 overall, image 7x8½ (one surface). Captioned: "Anita Baker". Publicity photo from Associated Booking Corporation, with ABC logo in lower right corner. Baker, born in Toledo, Ohio in 1958, is a Grammy Award-winning R&B and soul singer and songwriter. Baker, who got her start in singing early on a church choir at age 12, is known for a strong but lithe tenor. She auditioned for Chapter 8, a popular act in Detroit, Michigan in 1975. The group was signed to Ariola in 1979, but was dropped when Arista acquired the label; apparently, they didn't like Baker's vocals. She didn't let that stop her, though. She released her first solo album, The Songstress, in 1983 and has since gone on to release four platinum or multi-platinum albums and three gold records, and she has released 13 Top 10 hits on the U.S. R&B charts, including two No. 1 hits, and has placed two songs on the Top 10 pop charts: Sweet Love (1986) and Giving You the Best That I Got (1988). Slightly creased at corners. Fine condition.
