ANN CONVERY
The stage actor writes to Editor John Willis, sending in his resume
for the Theatre World files
Typed letter signed: "Ann Convery" in black ink. 1 page,
8½x11. New York City, July 21, 1980. In full: "Dear Mr. Willis: I am
so embarrassed I nearly didn't send this to you. I received your letter during a
show last February, and I was thrilled to be asked; thank you for you lovely
invitation. Unfortunately, I must have dropped the letter behind a huge
breakfront in my apartment--I didn't discover it until yesterday when we were
moving the furniture. It is undoubtedly too late to enter your book, but I am
sending you the information anyway. Thanks so much for your kind offer-- I would
have loved to be in Theatre World: Perhaps next year. Good luck with all your
production and thanks again, Sincerely,". Ann Convery (born in Trenton,
New Jersey) is an American stage and screen actress. She made her Broadway
debut in 1981's A Talent for Murder. Throughout the 1980's and
early '90's Convery mainly appeared in television, most notably I Know My
Name is Steven (1989) and Falcon Crest (1981). John A. Willis
(1916-2010), active in Theatre World from the beginning, became its chief
editor in 1965, holding that position until 2008. Willis is regarded as one
of the foremost theatre and film historians of the 20th century. While producing
(and presenting) the annual Theatre World Awards, Willis also served on the
nominating committee for the Tony Awards. Theatre World, which
received its own Tony for Excellence in Theatre in 2001, continues
under chief editor Ben Hodges. Normal mailing folds. Toned. Edges lightly
creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
