ANN HARDING
Signed sepia-toned headshot of Harding in a dark blouse
Photograph signed "Ann Harding". With pencil notations in unknown hand on verso. B/w sepia-toned, 4¾x6¾ overall, 4¼x6¼ image, one surface, printed on cardstock. Harding (1901-1981, born Dorothy Walton Gatley in Fort Sam Houston, Texas) was an American actress with almost 70 TV shows and movies to her credit. After working as a freelance script reader, she made her stage debut in 1921, making her Broadway debut later that year in Like a King. Harding had a total of nine Broadway performances, with seven before her film debut in Paris Bound (1929). Harding earned an Oscar nomination for her work in Holiday (1930), but her career suffered as she was typecast as noble, self-sacrificing women in tearjerkers. She quit films in 1937 after marrying symphony conductor Warner Janssen, but returned five years later in character roles. Harding made the transition to TV in 1952; almost all of her roles after that were in this medium. Lighlty toned, creased and cracked. Mounting and adhesive remnants and paper loss along edges. Otherwise in fine condition.
