ANN MC CORMACK
Her inscribed signature next to her picture, on an album leaf signed by two others on verso
Autograph Note signed: "Best Wishes/to a good friend/Ann McCormack", 7¾x4½ album leaf. Also affixed is a newspaper photo of McCormack on a beach with actor Lex Barker. Also signed on verso: "Lou Holtz", "Caprice" [to left of captioned newspaper photo of her]. Blues singer ANN MC CORMACK was an opening act for Frank Sinatra and Johnny Mathis, joining Sinatra on a world tour. She cut records, as noted in this letter, but devoted much of her time to a restaurant, The Embers Steakhouse, which she owned with her third husband (Paul Livermore) in Honolulu. McCormack performed there nightly. McCormack had been previously married to vaudeville star Clarence Stroud and to actor Jackie Coogan. Her son Don Stroud became a competitive surfer and noted character actor. Now in her eighties, she still performs in Las Vegas, where she lives. Actress CAPRICE TORIEL starred in the 1958 film Murder by Contract. She should not be confused with UK model and tabloid celebrity Caprice Bourret, who also goes frequently by her first name only. Actor/screenwriter LOU HOLTZ (1893-1980), not to be confused with football coach Lou Holtz, appeared in films of the 1930s, including School for Romance (1934). He appeared twice on TV's Ed Sullivan Show (1959) and on an episode of Twilight Zone (1963). Left edge ragged from previous binding. Lightly toned and crinkled at edges. Show-through on both sides. Otherwise, fine condition.
