ANNA SOSENKO - CONTRACT SIGNED 03/27/1946 CO-SIGNED BY: ALEC TEMPLETON - HFSID 82917
Price: $320.00
ANNA SOSENKO, CO-SIGNED BY: ALEC ANDREW TEMPLETON
Templeton and Sosenko signed this contract in 1947 so that Templeton could
appear on an episode of The Penguin Room, produced by Sosenko. Templeton
was supposed to play Stella Unger's Springtime in Vienna during the show
in return for $1,000.
Contract signed "Anna Sosenko" for Sosenko Productions and
"Alec Templeton". With ghost of notations in unknown hand just above
middle fold. 1 page, 8½x13. March 27, 1946. Templeton and Sosenko signed
this in order to have Templeton appear on the April 17, 1946 episode of The
Penguin Room, produced by Sosenko Productions, Inc. at NBC's New York
studios. Templeton was to perform Springtime in Vienna by Stella Unger
during this show. In return, he was to receive $1,000 for his appearance on
The Penguin Room. A business manager and producer in an industry
dominated by men, SOSENKO (1909-2000, born in New York City) produced the
hit radio talk show The Raleigh Room, sponsored by Raleigh cigarettes and
hosted by the entertainer Hildegarde. The show's theme song, Darling Je
Vous Aime Beaucoup, was written by Sosenko who was also Hildegarde's
manager. (The song was later made famous by Nat King Cole) Sosenko put her vast
knowledge of theatre and music to work, conceiving and producing star-studded
musical evenings that honored the greats of the theatre. A congenial, outspoken
and intense woman, Anna Sosenko probably knew more of the great stars of the
theatre of the last 60 years than anyone. Pianist and composer TEMPLETON
(1909-1963, born near Cardiff, Wales, England) was perhaps best known for
his work, Bach Goes to Town, and other parodies of the classics,
although he also wrote serious compositions. A popular radio performer,
Templeton also hosted a 1955 TV series It's Alec Templeton Time
and was also a frequent guest with symphony orchestras, especially for
fund-raising events. Lightly toned and creased. Tear on left edge. Folded three
times and unfolded. Tears along folds on left edge. Otherwise in fine
condition.
