Inscribed Photograph signed: "To John Beau -/ whose artistic hair styles make/women beautiful-/'Annabella''", B/w 7x9. French actress Annabella (1909-1996), born Suzanne Georgette Charpentier, was tapped at age 16 to star in Napoléon (1927). She was a star of French movies in the 1930s before coming to Hollywood in 1938. The following year, Annabella married her third husband (1939-1948), Tyrone Power; her second husband (1931-1938) was actor Jean Murat. Anabella's film credits include Dinner at the Ritz (1937), The Baroness and the Butler (1938), Suez (1938), Bridal Suite (1939) and Don Juan (1950). Annabella starred in two Broadway plays, an adaptation of Sartre's No Exit (1946), and before that her Broadway debut in Jacobowsky and the Colonel, which ran for 417 performances at the Martin Beck Theatre, March 1944 to March 1944. ½ to 1-inchx7¼ piece missing from the left side of the photograph. Light surface scratches. Lightly worn. Lightly soiled. 3¾ piece of tape affixed along bottom. Corners peeling.
