American-born novelist Anne Douglas Sedgwick moved with her family to
England at age 9. Her novels highlighted the contrasts between Americans and
Europeans. Among her many novels were four best sellers: Tante
(1912), The Little French Girl (1924), The Old Countess (1927) and
Dark Hester (1929). The first two of these were made into silent
films, Tante retitled as The Impossible Woman. Sedgwick was
married to British writer Basil de Selincourt. Adhesive tape on verso. Lightly
toned. Fine condition.
