ANNE SOPHIE MUTTER
Small color publicity photograph of Anne Sophie Mutter with her chin
resting on her violin.
Photograph signed: "Anne Sophie Mutter". Color, 5x7. When
Maestro Herbert von Karajan heard Anne Sophie Mutter playing the violin at age
13, he declared she was "the greatest musical prodigy since the young Menuhim."
Von Karajan arranged to have the young violinist play at the Salzburg
Festival in 1977, and Mutter debuted with the Berlin Philharmonic and made
her first recording the following year. One of the most sought after
violinists in the world today and a best-selling recording artist, Mutter
made her U.S. debut in 1980 (under Zubin Mehta) and gave her first recital at
Carnegie Hall in 1988. Known for her rich tone and impassioned performances
of the classics, Mutter has also commissioned a number of new works for the
violin. Fine condition.
