ANNE THURSTON The business manager for Alfred Hitchcock's production company Transatlantic Pictures signed this typed letter on behalf of Ingrid Bergman Typed Letter Signed: "Anne Thurston" in black ink. 8x6¾. Dated August 1948. Letterhead from the Transatlantic Pictures London office, but stamped on left side indicating that the letter is from the company's Burbank, California, address. In Full: "I thank you for your letter addressed to/Miss Bergman, and in reply to your request, I have pleasure in/enclosing herewith her autograph." Ingrid Bergman (1915-1982) was a Swedish-born actress who is considered one of the best Hollywood actresses of all time. Notable films include Casablanca (1942) and Notorious (1946). When this letter was sent, she was working on Under Capricorn (1949), which was the last Hitchcock film she appeared in. Transatlantic Pictures was a collaboration between Alfred Hitchcock and Sidney Bernstein following WWII. The short-lived production company released just two films: the experimental 1948 film Rope and Under Capricorn. The company was dissolved in 1952. Anne Thurston was a secretary for Transatlantic Pictures, representing many professionals who worked on the two films in their correspondence. Mailing creases. Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
