ANNE THURSTON The business manager for Alfred Hitchcock's production company Transatlantic Pictures signed this typed letter on behalf of Joseph Cotten Typed Letter Signed: "Anne Thurston" in black ink. 8x6¾. Dated September 1948. Letterhead from the Transatlantic Pictures London office. In Full: "Mr. Joseph Cotton [sic], who is working on our new picture/UNDER CAPRICORN, has asked me to thank you for your letter, and/in reply thereto, I have pleasure in enclosing herewith his/autograph." Joseph Cotten (1905-1994) was an actor closely associated with two of the great American directors: Orson Welles and Alfred Hitchcock. He appeared in dozens of films, including Under Capricorn (1949), Citizen Kane (1941), and the magnificent flop Heaven's Gate (1980). Transatlantic Pictures was a collaboration between Alfred Hitchcock and Sidney Bernstein following WWII. The short-lived production company released just two films: the experimental 1948 film Rope and Under Capricorn. The company was dissolved in 1952. Anne Thurston was a secretary for Transatlantic Pictures, representing many professionals who worked on the two films in their correspondence. Mailing creases. Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
