In 1959, British teacher and part-time writer Anthony Burgess (1917-1993) was mistakenly diagnosed with a cerebral tumor and given a year to live. He retired from teaching and became a prolific author of over 50 novels, literary criticisms, essays, film scripts and plays. His most well known book, A Clockwork Orange, was published in 1962, and made into a film by Stanley Kubrick in 1971. Burgess lived in Rome from 1971-1976. Fine condition.
