ANTHONY QUINN and PONTI DE LAURENTIS
Anthony Quinn and Ponti De Laurents sign a document summarizing a
prior verbal understanding on the terms of Quinn's employment as an actor in the
Italian film Cavalleria Rusticana.
Document Signed: "Anthony Quinn", 2p, 8½x11. Rome, Italy,
1953 June 30. Co-signed: "Ponti-De Laurentis". Letter of
Agreement summarizing a prior verbal understanding on the terms of Quinn's
employment as an actor in the Italian film Cavalleria Rusticana.
Mexican-born Quinn (1915-2001) portrayed peasants and other memorable, earthy
characters in a 65-year film acting career. He earned Oscars as Best
Supporting Actor in Viva Zapata (1952) and Lust for Life (1956),
but secured a mere nomination for his most fondly remembered role as the title
character in Zorba the Greek (1964). The second of Quinn's memoirs,
One Man Tango (1997), is candid and apologetic about events in his
tempestuous private life. Quinn was also a talented painter. Mid-vertical
crease (only affecting signature of witness on page 2). Edges are slightly
shaded and creased. There is a ¼-inch separation at right blank margin of first
page, and two small nicks at blank left margin of second page. Punch holes and
staple holes at upper blank margin. Signatures are bold and readable, as is
typing. Overall, fine condition.
