ANTHONY THORNE
Signed letter from the author thanking a fan for their letter, but saying he cannot currently comply with her request for a signed photograph as he is away from home
Typed letter signed: "Anthony Thorne", in black ink, 4½x5¼ affixed to a 8¼x5½ sheet. November 22, 1964. In full: "Dear Miss Shambler, Thank you for your letter, and I have much pleasure in adding my autograph but as you will see by this address I am far from home and the letter had to be forwarded. For the same reason I cannot lay my hands on any photograph that I can send you. I'm not quite sure how long I shall be here (finishing a book) but shall remember your kindness in writing to me. Yours sincerely". Anthony Thorne (1904-1973) wrote several books in the 1940's and 1950's, two of which were turned into films: The Bad Lord Byron (1949) and The Baby and the Battleship (1956). His last book, The Sky is Italian, was published in 1957. Light surface creases on backing sheet. Normal fold in center. Corners clipped. Slight surface creases. Otherwise, fine condition.
