Anton Dolin (1904-1983) was an English ballet dancer and
choreographer. Dolin joined Sergei Dighilev's Ballets Russes in 1921, and
worked as a principal there from 1924, eventually moving to be principal at the
Vic-Wells Ballet in the 1930s. It was there that he met Alicia Markova, with
whom he founded the Markova-Dolin Ballet and the London Festival Ballet. In
1940 he joined the Ballet Theatre and remained there as a dancer and
choreographer until 1946. Dolin has authored many books including Ballet
Go Round (1938) and Alicia Markova: Her Life and Art
(1953), and appeared in the documentary films A Portrait of
Giselle and This Is Your Life. Irregularly cut. Toned and
soiled. Light surface creases. Otherwise, fine condition.
