Typed letter signed "Anton Rodgers". 1 page, 8x10. Addressed to Peter
McGrath. In full: "from anton rodgers Dear Peter McGrath, Please do
forgive me for not having replied to your letter before now. Some of my mail got
mislaid, and I am afraid I have only just found it. I enclose 2 signed
photographs, and have also signed the card you enclosed [none included].
Once again, my apologies for the delay in writing. With best wishes,".
Rodgers (1933-2007, born Anthony Rodgers in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire,
England) was an English stage, TV and movie actor with 90 TV shows and movies to
his credit. Rodgers made his West End debut in 1947 in Carmen, followed
by a 1948 tour as Pip in Charles Dickens' Great Expectations. His stage
credits were numerous and included playing Mr. Jingle in the original cast of
Pickwick at the Saville Theatre in Westminster in 1963 and his New York
City debut at the 46th Street Theatre in the same role in 1965. His first screen
appearance was in a 1958 episode of Tales from Dickens. He went on to
appear in movies such as The Fourth Protocol (1987) and Dirty Rotten
Scoundrels (1988), as well as TV series such as Ukridge (1968),
Zodiac (1974) and May to December (1989-1994). Lightly toned and
creased. Folded in quarters and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
