Italian pianist and conductor MOLINARI-PRADELLI (1911-1996) debuted as an orchestral concert conductor before going on to become one of Italy's leading opera conductors of the 20th Century. He made his opera debut at Teatro alla Scala in 1946 and went on to perform at major houses like Covent Garden, the Vienna Staatsoper and the Metropolitan Opera (where he performed from 1966 and 1973), where he gained a reputation for his strong leadership and exciting shows. One of his most notable recordings is of a 1964 performance of Puccini's Turandot in San Francisco with Birgit Nilsson that is regarded one of the top Turandot recordings. He was also an excellent accompanist on the piano; his 1966 recording of Prima Donna, with Leonyne Price, won a Grammy Award. GELIOT, born in 1933, is an British director, producer and translator for theatre and opera. He was director of the Cambridge University Opera and later held numerous positions, including resident producer, director of production and principal prodcer, at the Welsh National Opera. He was also producer of the first British production of Liebermann's opera School for Wives in 1958. Argentine stage director JURI made his debut at Teatro Colon in 1963 and has since staged about 80 operas throughout South America, as well as festivals in Grand Canary, Reims, Washingon, Caracas and Vienna.
