APOLLO-SOYUZ CREW
Participants in the first joint U.S.-U.S.S.R. space venture pen their names on this 20x14 magazine photo
Magazine Photograph signed: "D.K. Slayton", "A. Leonov", "Tom Stafford" and "V. Kubasov". Color (two-page spread), 20x14. From the Russian magazine, "Soviet Life", picturing the crews at the cosmonaut training center near Moscow. The Apollo-Soyuz Test Project (ASTP) mission, July 15-24, 1975, was a joint space flight culminating in the first historical meeting in space between American astronauts and Soviet cosmonauts. The U.S. flight crew for this 9-day earth-orbital mission included THOMAS P. STAFFORD (1930-2024) (Apollo commander), DONALD K. SLAYTON (1924-1993) (Apollo docking module pilot) and Vance D. Brand (Apollo command module pilot). In the Soviet spacecraft were cosmonauts ALEXEI LEONOV (b.1934) (Soyuz commander) and VALERIY KUBASOV (1935-2014) (Soyuz flight engineer). The crewmen of both nations participated in scientific experiments and in a rendezvous and docking with Apollo, the active spacecraft. The event marked the successful testing of a universal docking system. The mission advanced future international space explorations. Lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
