APRIL LOVE MOVIE CAST: PAT BOONE, SHIRLEY JONES
Stars of April Love sign the soundtrack from their 1957 film. Record included!
Record album cover signed: "Pat Boone", "Shirley Jones". 12½x12. Dot records, April Love (1957). Singer and actor Boone was an immensely popular recording star in the late 1950s who scored 38 Top 40 hits. His biggest hits included "Don't Forbid Me", "April Love" and "Love Letters in the Sand" (all from 1957). He hosted a TV show (1957-1960) and appeared in 15 feature films, including Bernadine and April Love (1957). Boone's smooth style and clean cut good looks appealed not just to many teens, but to parents appalled by Elvis Presley and the rebellious side of rock 'n roll. From the mi-1960s onward, he concentrated on Christian music and ministry, but his album No More Mr. Nice Guy, a tongue in cheek cover of heavy metal hits, angered many of his religious fans who failed to get the joke. Pat is the father of singer Debby Boone. Singer and actress Shirley Jones (born in 1934) starred in the film versions of the hit musicals Oklahoma (1955), Carousel (1956) and The Music Man (1962). She earned a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for playing, quite contrary to her wholesome image, an angry prostitute in Elmer Gantry (1969). Jones is best known to television audiences as Shirley Partridge, the matriarch on the popular musical sitcom, The Partridge Family (1970-1974), whose cast included her stepson, David Cassidy (in 2004, Jones hosted a reality TV program to select a cast for a new Partridge Family pilot). Jones was married to her first husband, Jack Cassidy, from 1956 until their divorce in 1974; their sons, Shaun, Patrick and Ryan, all became entertainers. She has been married to comedian/actor Marty Ingels since 1977, although the couple has separated several times and divorce papers were once filed (but withdrawn). Edges and corners creased and worn. Slightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
