The late Armenian Orthodox Primate of Australia inscribes the back of
a 3½x5 photograph
Photograph inscribed and signed (on verso): "To Mr. Henry

Apostolic/Church". Color, 3½x5. Armenian Christian prelate Aghan
Baliozian (1946-2012), born to a refugee family in Syria, was Primate of
the Diocese of Australia for 30 years (1982 until his death). Active in
ecumenical dialogue, he was the first President of the National
Ecclesiastical Council of Australia (1994-1997). Until his health failed,
the gregarious Baliozian, a powerful orator, had been considered a leading
candidate for Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem, the Church's second highest
post. Ink slightly haloed, but legible. Fine condition.
