The cast of the soap opera The Archers sign this 5½x4 album leaf, in pencil and blue ink


Signatures: "Best Wishes/Bill Payne/(Ned Larkin)/The Archers" and, on verso: "Sincerely,/Monte Crick/(Dan Archer)", "Best Wishes/Philip Morant/John Tregorran" and "Best wishes/Anne Cullen/'Carol'", 5½x4 album leaf. BBC Radio-4's longest running radio serial drama, The Archers was first aired in 1950. BILL PAYNE. MONTE CRICK (d. 1969), also a pianist for BBC radio shows, was the second actor to play Dan Archer in the BBC's longest-running serial drama, The Archers. In the 1930s and 1940s, Crick was a composer of light stage musical pieces, including She Shall Have Music (1934), penned jointly with theater director Christopher Fry. He also wrote a number of songs, including "A Cloud", "March! March!" and "The Toy Train". PHILIP MORANT was the second of five actors to play John Tregorran (Basil Jones played him twice). ANNE CULLEN played Carol Tregorran. Dan Archer "died" in 1986, and none of the other characters appear on the radio drama today. Lightly creased. Soiled at upper margin of front page. Chipped at lower left blank edge. Otherwise, fine condition.
