Inscribed Biography signed: "Bet wish to 'Danny' 81/from Archie Moore" in blue ink, 1 page,
8x11. Archie Moore (1916-1998), born Archibald Wright, was World Light Heavyweight
Champion from 1952-1960. His first professional bout was in 1936 at age 22. Moore fought
220 times with a record 145 KOs. He is the only boxer to have fought both Rocky
Marciano (1955) and Muhammad Ali (1962), losing to both. Moore retired in 1963 and
turned to writing and acting. He received excellent reviews for his role as Jim, the runaway
slave, in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn in 1960, and he guest starred in television
series in both dramatic and comedic parts. Ink note (unknown hand) at bottom edge.
