Author and nationally syndicated columnist Arianna Huffington (born Arianna Stassinopoulous in Athens in 1950) made headlines in 2003 when she ran as an Independent candidate to replace California Governor Gray Davis in a recall election (she dropped out of the race, which was won by Arnold Schwarzenegger, in September 2003). Self-described as a "former right-winger who has evolved into a compassionate and progressive populist", Huffington is the founder of "The Huffington Post", an online commentary blog, and she also heads The Detroit Project, a lobbying group dedicated to the production of "cars that will end our dependence on foreign oil. Huffington has also been seen promoting her political views on television, and she is co-host of "Left, Right & Center", a nationally syndicated radio program. Huffington has also written several books on subjects ranging from politics to spirituality. Her latest book is titled On Becoming Fearless....in Love, Work, and Life. Minor surface creases and scratches (not evident head on), light diagonal crease touches writing. Light surface smudges and scuffs. Overall, fine condition.
