In full: "Thanks for sending me Secrecy. I'm always amazed at your scholarship & productivity." Arlen Specter (1930-2012), who was assistant counsel to the Warren Commission investigating the assassination of President Kennedy, represented Pennsylvania in the U.S. Senate from 1981 to 2011. He formerly chaired the Select Committee on Intelligence (1995-1997) and the Committee on Veterans Affairs. A political centrist Specter survived a tough Republican Primary against a more conservative challenger in 2004.
