Arlene Dahl inscribes a show bill for Applause at the South Shore Music Circus.
Playbill Magazine inscribed and signed: "Congratulations/to the winner!/To Jimmy/Sincerely/Arlene/Dahl" on cover, 20p, 5½x9. Cohasset, Massachusetts, circa June 1973.Program for Applause at the South Shore Music Circus. Photograph of Dahl, b/w, 5x5, on cover. Stage and screen actress Arlene Dahl (1925-2021) had replaced Lauren Bacall (who won a Tony Award for her role as Margo Channing) in the Tony Award-winning musical, Applause, which played on Broadway at the Palace Theatre from March 30, 1970-July 27, 1972. The South Shore Music Circus, a summer theatre located 21 miles south of Boston, hosted the play as part of its summer program of plays and concert performances. A film star of the late 1940s and 1950s, Dahl's roles included The Outriders (1950), Sangaree (1953, opposite future husband Fernando Lamas) and Slightly Scarlet (1956). She then turned her attention more to beauty advising and the cosmetics business. When Dahl returned to films after a long absence (Night of the Warrior, 1991), it was to appear with her son actor, Lorenzo Lamas. Lightly soiled. Fine condition.
