Captioned at lower margin: "Sam Krichinsky (Armin Mueller-Stahl) gives his grandson, Michael (Elijah Wood), some advice and much-needed reassurance in 'AVALON,' written and directed by Barry Levinson. Tri-Star Pictures presents a Baltimore Pictures Production of a Barry Levinson Film produced by Mark Johnson and Barry Levinson." In the year this film was released, Mueller-Stahl also starred in a German film, Bronsteins Kinder (Bronstein's Children). Born in East Prussia, Germany in 1920, musical prodigy and actor Armin Meuller-Stahl was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1996 for Shine. Meuller-Stahl, who made his film debut in 1962, has also been seen on the big screen in such films as Jacob the Liar (1975), Lola (1981), Angry Harvest (1985), The Music Box (1989), The Peacemaker (1997), The X-Files (1998), and The Long Run (2001). He has also appeared in made-for-TV movies, including 1997's 12 Angry Men, and Mueller-Stahl also hosted the TV series, The Power of Knowledge (2005), and made a recurring appearances as Israeli Prime Minister Efraim "Eli" Zahavy on The West Wing (2004).
